Spreading New Years Cheer: Local Charities Receive Monetary Gifts from the Port of Hualien

In the run-up to the 2017 Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday, the Port of Hualien is actively sharing the warmth of the season with its neighbors. In the morning of January 13th, Port of Hualien President Chan-yu Lu led a team of port officials and staff that included Harbor Master Shun-yi Lee on visits to the Mennonite New Dawn Center, the Bethesda Center, and the Meilun Sanatorium. The team shared heartfelt holiday cheer with the residents and staff of each facility and made monetary donations to help these institutions meet pressing financial needs.

Port of Hualien President Lu remarked that charitable support of the socially disadvantaged has been a part of Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) operations since its founding in March 2012. TIPC is the parent company of the Port of Hualien. He continued, noting that the New Dawn Center, Bethesda Center, and Meilun Sanatorium are more than just Port of Hualien neighbors. They are, he said, places of love and compassion that assist families in need. Staff care for residents with patience and love, allowing them to grow and mature in a warm and loving environment and giving parents the peace of mind necessary to entrust these institutions with their children’s care. The dedication and achievements of these three institutions are worthy of respect and emulation.

Chinese New Year is the most important traditional holiday in Taiwan’s annual calendar. On the eve of the 2017 CNY holiday, the Port of Hualien sends its special holiday wishes to its neighbors that actively promote charitable endeavors. Further, the Port of Hualien sincerely hopes that its small contributions will make positive ripples across the disadvantaged communities of the East Coast and bring warmth and hope to all.
